ORDER TO THE FORCES OF WEST FRONT No. 079

Secret

15 December 1941
Active Army

Guards units and cadet brigades have shown themselves to be the best units of the Red Army in battles with the German forces.

For purposes of preserving the basic cadre of these units and maintaining their combat traditions, I ORDER:

1. Wounded and sick personnel of guards units and cadet brigades with a recuperation period of 10-15 days are not to be evacuated outside of the armies. Organize their recovery in army hospitals and after discharge return them only to their own units.

2. Wounded and sick guardsmen and cadets with a recuperation period of 30-35 days are to be held and treated in hospitals of field evacuation points, and with a recuperation period of 60 days in hospitals of front evacuation points. The remainders are to be evacuated to hospitals in the deep rear.

3. Upon recovery, guardsmen and cadets of rifle brigades are to be discharged from hospitals to reserve regiments. Reserve regiment commanders are to ensure their rapid dispatch to their own units.

4. By 23.12.41 the chief of the front medical department is to organize receiving-collection points in front and field evacuation points, which are responsible for receiving discharged personnel of guards units and cadet brigades and distributing them to reserve regiments.
